How it Works.

The Round-Up Savings Jar Donation Program enables members to round up their debit-card purchases to the nearest dollar or whole dollar amount at the end of each day. The rounded-up amount is split between member savings and a donation to the Foundation.

California Coast Credit Union Round-Up Program Terms and Conditions

1. Program Overview

The Round-Up Program ("Program") allows eligible members of California Coast Credit Union ("Cal Coast," "we," "us") to round up debit card purchases to the nearest whole dollar. The rounded-up funds is split and:

  • Deposited into the member’s designated Cal Coast savings account (“Round-Up to Save”), and
  • Donated to Cal Coast Cares Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (“Round-Up for Charity”).

2. Eligibility

Participation is open to members with an eligible Cal Coast checking account and debit card in good standing. Enrollment is required.

Qualifying transactions include debit card purchases made by swiping the card in-store, at a kiosk, using a mobile wallet (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay), or completing an online transaction.

3. How It Works

  • Round-up program transactions are aggregated and rounded up nightly to the nearest whole dollar.
  • The difference between the aggregate rounded amount is:
    • Transferred to the member’s selected Cal Coast savings account, and
    • Donated to Cal Coast Cares Foundation, based on the member’s selected option.
  • The member can elect to set optional monthly transfer limits savings and/or donations.
  • If the  member’s account balance drops below $25.00, the Round-Up with not occur.  

4. Fees

There are no fees to participate in the Program.

5. Tax Implications

  • Donations to Cal Coast Cares Foundation may be tax-deductible. Members are responsible for maintaining records and consulting a tax advisor.
  • Cal Coast does not provide tax advice or guarantee deductibility.

6. Changes and Termination

Cal Coast reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Program or a member’s participation at any time without prior notice.

7. Opt-Out

Members may opt out or change their selected option by visiting a Cal Coast branch or calling the Member Service Center.

8. Limitation of Liability

Cal Coast is not liable for any losses or damages arising from participation in the Program, including but not limited to tax consequences or transaction errors.

9. Governing Law

This Program is governed by the laws of the State of California.
